ACCOUNT & DATA DELETION

Delete your account

You can delete your Catown Map account and associated personal data. If you cannot use the app, you can request deletion from this page.

Delete your account in the app

If you can sign in, deleting your account in the app is the quickest option and verifies your identity at the same time.

  1. Open Profile
  2. Open Profile & account settings
  3. Select Delete account
  4. Choose how to handle your posts and confirm deletion
You are signed out automatically when deletion is complete. A deleted account cannot be restored.

If you cannot use the app

If you have changed devices or uninstalled the app, send a deletion request from your registered email address. If you used Google or Apple sign-in, contact us from the email address registered to that account where possible.

Request deletion by email

Please include:

  • Your registered email address
  • Your sign-in method: email, Google, or Apple
  • Whether to delete all your posts and photos or retain them as community records without an account link
Compose deletion request

Do not include or attach passwords, verification codes, or identity documents.

We normally process requests promptly after verifying your identity. If verification or investigation is needed, completion may take up to about 30 days. We will notify you by email when deletion is complete.

Data that is deleted

Both deletion options remove the following account data:

  • Your sign-in account, registered email address, and profile
  • Personal activity data such as comments, favorites, votes, and view history
  • Links identifying you as a cat owner or post contributor
  • Your preference and consent records for contributing to AI that recognizes cats
Delete everything

Delete your posts and photos

Your sightings and photos are deleted. Cats with no remaining sightings are also deleted. Cats with sightings from other users may remain as community records with your ownership information removed.

Keep community records

Retain posts and photos as community records

Your sightings and photos remain as records of local cats. Your contributor link and memos are removed. These records are no longer linked to your account, and you cannot edit or reclaim them after deletion.

Data contributed to AI that recognizes cats

Deleting your account excludes your contributions from future additions to training and new data sharing. See the Privacy Policy for how already supplied data and trained models are handled.

Data that may remain after deletion

Community records without an account linkSightings and photos you choose to retain. Contributor links and memos are removed. Photos, locations, or times may still allow a person to be inferred.
Shared cat recordsCats with sightings from other users. Your ownership information is removed.
Deletion work recordsRetained for 90 days after deletion completes, then removed by a scheduled task. Unfinished work records are retained while needed to resume and complete deletion.
Safety and legal complianceMinimal records may remain where needed to address abuse or meet legal obligations. Links to you are removed where possible.
